Introduction to Performance

This studio class introduces the student to a wide spectrum of performance forms including performance in everyday life, rituals, folk forms, artists' actions, experimental dance and theater, activist performances, installations, and intermedia forms. Students learn the history of performance, explore theoretical issues, and develop individual and collaborative pieces. Assignments are designed to provide an introduction to the fundamental tools and techniques of performance art.
